What does preventative health actually mean, and what can Enbodie help me prevent?

For us, preventative health means helping you understand potential risks earlier, before they become bigger problems.

A simple way to think about it is like looking after a plant.

You do not wait until a plant is struggling before you care for it. You look at the soil, the light, the water, the environment and the season. You notice small changes, understand what that particular plant needs, and make adjustments to help it stay healthy.

We think about people in much the same way.

Enbodie looks across your skin, eyes, products, ingredients, routines, exposures, environment, lifestyle and other health signals to help identify things that may not be right for you.

That could mean spotting visible changes earlier, identifying ingredients or combinations that may not suit you, understanding cumulative exposure across your routine, or helping you recognise when something may need professional attention.

But prevention only works properly when it is personal.

That is why Enbodie is being built for all genders, all ethnicities, all skin tones, all ages, and people with different values, beliefs and lifestyles.

We also understand that what is right for you can change throughout your life.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause, menopause, changes in testosterone or other hormones, ageing, medication, diet, environment and lifestyle changes can all affect what may be appropriate for you.

Your values matter too.

Whether you are vegan, halal, kosher, Jain, environmentally conscious, cruelty-free focused, or simply want to avoid certain ingredients, Enbodie can take those preferences into account alongside health and scientific evidence.

So we are not simply asking:

“Is this product good or bad?”

We are asking:

“Is this right for you, your body, your values and your circumstances, today?”

That is what preventative health means to us.

How do I know I can trust Enbodie’s data and the recommendations it gives me?

Trust is fundamental to Enbodie.

We do not want people making decisions about their health based on vague claims, social media trends or an AI simply guessing what sounds right.

Our data typically comes from a combination of scientific, clinical, regulatory and product-level sources.

Depending on what Enbodie is analysing, that can include:

  • Peer-reviewed scientific and medical research
  • Clinical guidance and specialist organisations, including dermatology and eye-health research
  • Government and regulatory sources covering ingredients, chemicals, medicines and product safety
  • Scientific databases such as PubChem and toxicology datasets
  • Dermatology resources such as DermNet and large-scale skin-image datasets used to improve representation across different skin tones
  • Eye-health research and guidance, including work from organisations such as TFOS
  • Ingredient and formulation information, including INCI ingredient lists and published product information
  • Manufacturer and product-label data
  • Environmental data, where factors such as air quality, water and other exposures may be relevant
  • Enbodie’s own structured and validated datasets, which bring these different sources together so they can be assessed consistently

We do not simply take one source and treat it as the answer.

Enbodie is designed to bring multiple pieces of evidence together, look for agreement or conflict between them, and then apply that information in the context of the individual person.

Where possible, we also want you to understand why something has been highlighted, what the evidence says, and why it may be relevant to you.

Importantly, Enbodie is designed so that AI does not simply invent a health answer.

The underlying data, evidence and rules drive the assessment, while AI helps make that information easier to understand.

So the principle is:

Evidence first. Personal context second. AI explains, rather than decides.

Our goal is simple:

Give you information that is understandable, explainable and grounded in evidence, so you can make a better-informed decision.

What happens if Enbodie finds something in one of my products that may not be right for me?

We do not simply tell you that a product or ingredient is “good” or “bad”.

We explain what we have found, why it may matter, what the evidence says, and importantly, why it may matter to you personally.

Something that is perfectly suitable for one person may not be right for another.

Your skin, sensitivities, allergies, age, ethnicity, life stage, health profile, medications, other products you use, lifestyle, values and even your overall exposure can all make a difference.

We also look beyond a single product.

For example, an ingredient may be within an accepted level in one product, but you might be exposed to the same ingredient across several products you use every day.

Enbodie can help you understand that cumulative exposure and wider context, rather than looking at every product in isolation.

And we do not just leave you with a warning.

Where appropriate, Enbodie can help you understand what you could use instead, identifying alternative products that do not contain the ingredient of concern, or that may be better suited to your individual profile, needs and values.

So rather than simply saying:

“There’s something in this product you should avoid.”

We want to help you understand:

“Here’s what we found. Here’s why it matters to you. Here are your options. And here are alternatives that may be better suited to you.”

The goal is not to frighten you or tell you to throw products away.

It is to give you enough clear, personalised and evidence-based information to make the choice that feels right for you.

What happens if Enbodie doesn’t recognise a product I’m using?

That’s okay.

We use several different ways to help find your product, and we always try to make the easiest method the first one.

We start by using technology in the way people naturally use it every day: with the camera already in your smartphone.

Instead of asking you to type a product name or find a barcode first, you can simply take what we call a “product selfie”.

Enbodie uses the image to try to recognise and identify the actual product in front of you.

Like any camera-based technology, it works best when we have a clear view of the product, good lighting and sharp focus.

If those things are in place, we can usually get a good image to start from.

From there, we search our product data to try to identify the exact product and, once found, begin breaking down what is inside it and what may be relevant to you.

If we cannot confidently recognise the product from the image, we do not stop there.

You can scan a traditional rectangular barcode, or where available, a more modern QR code, and we can use that information to search for the product.

Or you can use our text search.

This starts searching as soon as you begin typing a brand or product name.

Think of it a little like searching for a postcode or ZIP code: every additional letter helps narrow the possibilities, allowing us to get more specific very quickly and help you reach the right product with as little effort as possible.

In future releases, we also plan to add voice search, so you will be able to simply tell Enbodie what product you are looking for.

So your first journey is designed to be simple:

Take a product selfie → scan a barcode or QR code → start typing the name → and, in future, simply ask by voice.

And what if none of those methods can find it?

We still do not leave you there.

Enbodie includes a feature that lets you send us the product so we can help investigate it for you.

All we ask for is at least two clear photographs, typically the front and back, or the top and bottom.

And if you really want to help us, you can send all four. 😊

You can then give us a few simple details, such as:

  • The brand name
  • The product name, if you know it
  • Its size
  • The category it belongs to
  • Anything else you think might help us identify it

Then we do the searching.

We aim to come back to you as quickly as possible with the product we believe best matches what you have shown and described.

Sometimes that can be very fast, potentially within around an hour.

More difficult products may take 24 to 48 hours to investigate properly.

The important point is that we try to make you do as little work as possible.

You should not have to spend your time searching the internet, copying long ingredient lists, entering endless product details or trying to work out which version of a product you have.

That is what Enbodie is there to help with.

Once we identify the product, we can start looking at:

  • What the product is
  • What ingredients or components it contains
  • What those ingredients are used for
  • Whether anything may be particularly relevant to you
  • Potential sensitivities, ingredient combinations or cumulative exposure
  • Whether there may be alternatives that are better suited to your profile, needs or values

And if, after all of that, we still cannot identify the product with enough confidence, we will tell you clearly rather than guess.

Because the Enbodie experience is designed around a very simple idea:

You do less. We do more.

Simple. Fast. Personal.

Not recognising your product immediately should never mean the journey stops.

How is Enbodie different from apps like Yuka?

Apps like Yuka have done a great job of helping people become more aware of the ingredients in the products they buy.

Enbodie takes a different approach.

We are not only trying to understand the product.

We are trying to understand the relationship between the product and the person using it.

That means we look at much more than whether an ingredient has been broadly labelled as “good” or “bad”.

We look at things such as:

  • Your skin, eyes and other health signals
  • Your age, ethnicity and skin tone
  • Your sensitivities, allergies and health profile
  • Your medications and supplements
  • The other products you already use
  • Your cumulative exposure across those products
  • Your environment and lifestyle
  • Your personal values, beliefs and preferences
  • Your stage of life and the transitions you may be going through
  • How all of those things may change over time

Your values matter because health choices are not purely scientific decisions.

You may be looking for products that are vegan, halal, kosher, Jain, cruelty-free, environmentally conscious, sustainably sourced, or simply free from ingredients you personally prefer not to use.

Enbodie is designed to understand those preferences alongside the scientific evidence, rather than treating everyone as though they make decisions in the same way.

The same is true of life transitions.

What is appropriate for you may change during pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause, menopause, ageing, changes in testosterone or other hormones, changes in medication, major lifestyle changes, or different stages of your health journey.

Enbodie is designed to recognise that your needs are not static.

A product that may be perfectly suitable for you today may not necessarily be the best choice for you in a different stage of your life.

And a product that is suitable for one person may not be right for another.

That is why Enbodie is designed to personalise the assessment around you, rather than simply give the same answer to everyone.

So instead of only asking:

“Is this product good?”

Enbodie asks:

“Is this product right for you, your values, your lifestyle and your circumstances, today?”

We also go beyond product scanning.

Enbodie is being built as a wider preventative health platform, bringing together signals from your skin, eyes, body, products, ingredients, exposures, environment, lifestyle and life stage to help you understand what may deserve attention earlier.

And if we identify something in a product that may not be right for you, we do not just stop at a warning.

We explain what we found, why it may matter to you, and where appropriate, help you identify products that may be better suited to your health profile, needs, values, beliefs and current stage of life.

So the difference is not simply about having a bigger product database or scanning a different barcode.

It is about moving from:

“What is in this product?”

to:

“What does this product mean for me, right now?”

Because “right now” changes.

Think back to our plant.

A plant may be healthy in one environment, then need something different when the season changes, the temperature rises, the air becomes more polluted, the water changes, or the amount of sunlight is different.

The plant has not suddenly become “wrong”.

Its context has changed.

We are much the same.

The weather changes. Pollution changes. Air quality changes. Water changes depending on where we live or travel. Our routines change. The products we use change. Our medications can change. Our hormones change. Our lifestyle changes. Our priorities and values can change too.

And our health history develops over time.

Something that worked really well for you 24 months ago may still be right for you today, but it may also deserve another look because you and the circumstances around you may have changed.

Perhaps you are now taking a different medication. You have developed a sensitivity. Your skin has changed. You are pregnant or breastfeeding. You are going through menopause, changes in testosterone or other hormonal changes. You have moved somewhere with a different environment. Or you are simply using several other products alongside it that you were not using before.

Your history still matters.

In fact, understanding where you have come from can help us better understand where you are now.

Just like the plant, what you need depends on the conditions around you and what is happening within you at that moment.

Health is not static.

Neither is the world around us.

And that is why, for Enbodie, context is everything.

We are not trying to give you one fixed answer and assume it will remain right forever.

We are trying to understand you, your history, your environment, your values, your lifestyle and your circumstances today, and use the best available evidence to help you make a more informed choice.

Because just as the needs of a plant change when its environment changes, what is right for you may change when your context changes too.

What is Enbodie?

Enbodie is an agentic AI-driven preventative health and longevity platform built around one idea: context is everything. We connect what is happening in your body with the products you use, your exposures, environment, sustainability choices, values and lifestyle changes to understand what is right for you, right now. By spotting relevant risks and changes earlier, Enbodie helps you make informed, smarter, more sustainable choices today that support healthier longevity over time.

How does Enbodie work?

Take a selfie and scan your products. From one photo, Enbodie reads your skin, your eyes and your pulse together, with no wearables, no clinic scans and no travel. Point your phone at any product, no barcode needed, and Enbodie grades the product and its ingredients, tells you what’s not good for you, and suggests safer swaps personalised to you.

What is the Enbodie Trust Index?

One independent score from A to E, built from six pillars and weighed for the body in front of it. The pillars combine into a single score from 0 to 100, which lands in one of five bands: A Excellent (85–100), B Good (70–84), C Fair (55–69), D Poor (40–54) and E Avoid (0–39).

How do you decide whether an ingredient is safe for me?

Every grade traces back to toxicology, never to whatever sells best or who is advertising or sponsoring. We use the Margin of Safety: the dose that causes no observed effect, divided by what you’re actually exposed to, counted across a whole routine rather than one product in isolation. A margin below 100 is below the threshold regulators use.

Where does your evidence come from?

Every figure and recommendation arrives with a certificate of where the evidence came from: the study, the regulator or the standards body. Each input is tagged by how well we know it (measured, reviewed or estimated), and thin evidence is never dressed up as certainty. Enbodie is independent, with no ties to the brands it rates.

Who is Enbodie for?

Every sex, every gender, every age, every skin tone, every belief. Enbodie is built in London for the most diverse audience on earth, and is tested across every Fitzpatrick skin tone.

What is EVI?

EVI is Enbodie’s health guide. EVI reads your scans and answers in plain language, with the evidence behind every word. If a product concerns you, EVI finds a safer, healthier match and explains why.

Does Enbodie diagnose medical conditions?

No. Enbodie gives you earlier, evidence-aligned awareness; it does not diagnose you and does not replace your GP. Enbodie’s analysis is not a substitute for professional medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision-making. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making health-related decisions.

Do my photos leave my phone?

No. Your photos, videos, name and address never leave your phone. Enbodie analyses your image on your own device, behind your device’s own security (Face ID or fingerprint), and we never receive your pictures.

Do you sell my data?

We never sell data that identifies you. If you opt in, we may share or sell aggregated insights, patterns across groups of adults shaped so no individual can be picked out, to research and industry partners. You can change your mind at any time in Settings, and we never include data from anyone under 18.

Can children use Enbodie?

Enbodie is for people aged 13 and over. Children aged 13 to 15 are added by a parent or guardian to a Family or Family+ account; people aged 16 and over can create their own account.

How do I get the app?

Early access is open to everyone, on iPhone through TestFlight and on Android through the Google Play beta. Sign up at enbodie.me/join and we’ll email your invite. Core access is free while the beta runs.
